On the north part of the island, on the hillsides of Katalakkos village, you will discover the sand dunes of Gomati. Dunes of fine sand are expanding themselves at the bottom of a valley, you can walk through them and thus, discover the vegetation and an uncommon landscape. It is a well known place around and an apparently classic walk on the Island, so you can find a car park and information panels at the entrance of this impressive site. The access track is very rustic and the temperature can be very high. Be careful of wearing good sandals to walk in the burning sand dunes. The beaches of the Gomati gulf are near the site and they could be of great comfort to refresh yourself after the walk through the dunes.
