Perched atop a crag in the Southwest of the Island, the chapel of Kakavos is an other curiosity. Sheltered by the overhang of a rock, the pretty bare place of worship seems to be a place of pilgrimage, still practised today as you can notice many testimonies through votives, candles, written messages in the testimony book.
You will have to walk for a good half an hour from a makeshift car park, linked to a very dusty track. Along the path, have a look at the holes in the rocks, they are good shelters for local goats which will look at you with much phlegm climbing the path…
