Aradena Gorge ☼

Anoula’s travel notebook.

Much more difficult than the Samaria gorge, the Aradena gorge are as amazing but much wilder, you won’t meet as many tourists as in the Samaria gorge for sure.

First small delicate step : crossing the suspended bridge to reach the car park and park your car. It’s a bridge which dizzily spans the gorge. Once you find the way to go down the gorge, you won’t lose yourself anymore.

Be careful, you have to climb over rocks some time to time, and, have a look at the goats which could let stones falling sometimes, and above all, don’t venture yourself alone in the gorge.

At the end of the gorge, you will arrive on the little beach of Marmara, well deserved, but if you don’t want to stay all night there, you will need 2 more hours to arrive in Loutro. From there, you can walk backwards to pick up your car or take the ferry to Chora Sfakion, from where a taxi will drive you back to your car.

It’s a beautiful walk to do, you just need to be careful of the time to avoid sleeping on the beach, although it’s not so unbearable, if you thought of your sleeping bag, but feel safe, hotels are never far away!
